HALT = Hungry, Angry, Lonely, Tired

‍These are the top 4 physical states that can have a large impact or your decision making process.

Anyone of us may be more likely to make poor choices that affects our health and wellbeing if one of these is at play.

The particulars vary from person to person; however, when we see them in our lives, we should HALT any quick reaction, sit back and reflect on better ways to handle them, and respond thoughtfully.  

Remember that many triggers are subconscious, so practice self-compassion because sometimes we identify the underlying trigger for our behaviour later.

Every time you discover a new trigger, we can build up your Prevention Plan by jotting it down and brainstorming some ideas for what you can do to cope with or avoid the trigger. Having a game plan is invaluable for overcoming our triggers!
